BlackBerry App Review # 7 : CRUNCHSMS

If you want something really different for your texting experience on your Blackberry, then crunchSMS is for you : it's a chat-style bubble SMS application like those seen on the iPhone and Android phones. It's intuitive, easy to use, and makes texting enjoyable!

You can use crunchSMS as a replacement to the built-in Messages application, simply install it from the Blackberry Application world (search : crunchsms) and use the crunchSMS icon instead. After installing, you need to block SMS messages by going Options > Security > Options > Firewall. This is to enable you to recieved all your SMS in this application.

While in the application, you can opt to change the font size, incoming / outgoing bubble colours as you want. Nice!

CrunchSMS is currrently at version 2.8 (17 May 2010), and lots more features coming soon, like showing your Contact Pictures for a conversation, Smileys, and heaps more!

BoBoBerry Comment : this is one application that sure light-up the SMS feature. Seriously exciting..!

BoBoBerry rating : 5/5 ~ Fantastic!

Another BlackBerry Slider 9800 leak, this time with video

Source : www.gsmarena.com

One of the worst kept secrets in the mobile world, the BlackBerry Slider 9800, just made another public appearance. This time it stars in a short video in all its BlackBerry OS 6 might.

The 14-second video clip doesn’t give much new information about the device specifications so it still remains pretty much all guesswork there. The touchscreen-enabled slider will come with a trackpad and according to the label on its back will be the next member of the Bold family.

Rumor also has it that there will be a 5 megapixel camera with Liquid lens technology (whatever that is) on board.

With leaks intensifying so much recently, we suspect that the BlackBerry Slider 9800 official announcement can’t be far away now. Availability though is expected in Q3 at the earliest.

axef79 says : nice desgin, but maybe not for someone like me who always on BBM =)

RIM enters Top 5, replaces Motorola

Smartphones, smartphones, smartphones - it’s what the people around the world want. Can’t argue with numbers - smartphone shipments are on a rise and the market in general is bouncing back from the 2009 low caused by the poor economy.
In the first quarter of 2010, a total of 294.9 million units were shipped - a 21.7% increase over the 242.4 million units of the previous year’s initial quarter. Analysts remind us that this impressive growth is compared to an overall poor year, so a more realistic market growth for 2010 is 11%.

Motorola reported less bleak Q1 financial results compared to last year, but they lost the top US phone manufacturer to Apple, and they fallen behind on the worldwide scene as well - Motorola fell out of the Top 5 and RIM took their place, overtaking Sony Ericsson for the fourth spot.
RIM is gearing up to take an even bigger piece of the market share pie - the newly announced BlackBerry OS 6 is likely to gain more traction with the general crowd than the previous versions and there are new devices to help drive adoption even further.
Aside from smartphones, touchscreens were another sought-after feature, with touch-operated feature phones performing strongly in Europe. In North America, Android is gaining speed and quick messaging devices remained popular.

In Asia and the Pacific (sans Japan) low-cost smartphones were hot-sellers. In Latin America, both feature phones and smartphones recovered from the dip they took last year and social networking features are growing in popularity.
